Welcome to Kindergarten! My name is Mary Kohnke. I am originally from Chicago, IL. Before teaching at Madison Elementary, I taught in an inner city school in Miami, Florida for ten years teaching First Grade Chapter One students and Second Grade Gifted students, as well as, being the Lead Second Grade Teacher for ten second grade classrooms. I was awarded Teacher of Year in 1987. This will be my 21st year teaching at Madison Elementary School teaching grades Kindergarten through Fourth grade and RTI working with students K-6. (This makes me about 35 years old :) .
I graduated from Northern Illinois University, where I received my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. Since then, I have taken many post-graduate degree classes at Florida International University, as well as, universities in Maine, and New Hampshire.
In my free time I enjoy traveling, reading good books, and playing with my dog, Eddie (She's a girl.... long story).
I am always available to talk with you. If you have any questions, concerns, or something positive to share, you may call me at school, email me [email protected] , or write a quick note and place it in your child's homework folder. I will get back to you as soon as possible.
I look foreword to working with and getting to know your child!
